There are numerous email marketing platforms on the internet to choose and because all of them offer various features, it is difficult to decide what tool to use.
Comparing one to one is an almost impossible task, as often the features that exist in one tool don’t exist or are different in the other tool.
In this AWeber Review, I am going to go through all AWeber features so you can make an easier decision if this is the right email marketing platform you want to use.
What is AWeber?
AWeber is an easy email marketing tool with a broad range of features. The tool is usually recommended to small to medium-size businesses, entrepreneurs, agencies, non-profit organisations, or bloggers.
AWeber is very friendly for someone who has not done email marketing in the past. You can sign up with a free plan to start with and later upgrade after your subscribers’ list is bigger.
The free plan allows you to have up to 500 subscribers and send 3000 emails per month.
If you are looking for an all-in-one comprehensive platform with very advanced automation I recommend ActiveCampaign, and if you want to focus on sales or magnet funnels, paid ads or webinars I recommend GetResponse.

AWeber features at a glance
The core feature of AWeber allows you to get leads and stay in touch with your subscribers. You have all features you need to build professional emails and even you are a beginner the AWeber tools are easy to use.
Building email templates, landing pages, web pushed notifications, forms or funnels is easy with a drag and drop builder.
If you are a Canva user, this is the place for you as Canva is embedded with AWeber and you don’t need to leave your AWeber account to make professional designs.
Subscribers can be segmented and tagged to virtual containers that can be used in personalised email journeys with automation.
Delete unsubscribed subscribers as those are counted by AWeber in your plan.
The AWeber automation workflows can be set up with pre-built templates easy step by step for welcome letters or newsletters.
The three main reasons to use AWeber automation are:
- Engage more – build strong relationships with your subscribers by sending scheduled and automated emails
- Get more sales – by sending discounts and special offers, or monitoring and reacting when customers abandon your cart
- Personalised engagement – with segments and tags you can send personalised messages to target your subscribers’ needs.
The best part of using automation is that once it is set up the emails are sent automatically. You can monitor the clicks, opens, and sales and use these statistics to tweak your campaigns.
A landing page is a web page designed specifically to help you promote your website, get subscribers, and sell products.
With AWeber, you can use unlimited professionally designed templates and create a landing page in under 10 minutes.
As I mentioned already, a unique feature of AWeber is that it has Canva embedded in your account.
Canva is super easy to use for any online design like presentations, posters, infographics, logos, business cards, Pinterest pins, or landing pages like in AWeber.
AWeber Customer Service
eCommerce helped many businesses improve their efficiency through streamlining selling products and service delivery processes. By doing everything online, the selling process is simplified as there is less time and resources you need to spend for a single sale.
Adding eCommerce to your website can be a good way to increase your revenue and make your website more recognizable.
With AWeber, you can start accepting payments for your products or services with a few steps. The explicitly designed eCommerce landing pages have all the tools you need to start selling online.
You can also set up donations, regular money giving, monthly subscriptions, and more.
For example, if you offer a paid service on your website, you can set up weekly, monthly, or yearly payment plans and give users some flexibility.
Every time, when a sale is made, AWeber applies a small transactions fee, so you don’t have to use a third-party service.
Your sales are tracked automatically and you can apply tagging to recognize people that purchased from your eCommerce landing page.
It is also a good idea to connect your brand domain to the landing page, which is available in AWeber.
Web Push Notifications
Web pushed notifications are short, clickable messages that are triggered when the user is using a web browser.
Once the notifications are enabled, the users don’t even have to be on your website to be notified of your new article release or any custom message you prepared.
Web Push Notifications are included in all AWeber plans at no cost.
Whereas web push notifications are a great way to increase customer engagement, remember to limit the messages to a bare minimum as otherwise your visitors may be annoyed, leave the page and unsubscribe.
Sign Up Forms
All forms within AWeber are mobile-friendly. Web forms are crucial as if designed properly can bring you more subscribers and this is your ultimate goal.
It is important that your form is eye-catching and matches your brand. For the subscription form, I recommend using up to three fields like name, interests, and email.
The more forms fields you use the less likely your visitors will subscribe.
To get your subscription forms to the next level, AWeber has developed a mobile app to add new subscribers directly from your phone.
If you participate in conferences or events, you can lunch the app and hand it over to a person to type their details and subscribe.
The app is connected directly to your account so you will see new subscribers immediately.
AMP dynamic emails
AWeber went a step ahead of their competition by enabling dynamic emails with AMP.
Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) is a framework to allow you to have interactions inside your email. The email will act as a web page where you can set settings or click a button.
Instead of sending a static newsletter, you may add a poll or question and allow users to interact directly within their email. It is a great way of engaging with your subscribers on a different level.
Any good email marketing platform must have A/B split testing and AWeber is one of them.
The whole point of split testing is to test two versions of the same email or form.
Usually, you send an A version to 10 % of your subscribers, and a B version to another 10 % of your subscribers. Based on the engagement metrics you decide which template perform better and send it to the remaining subscribers.
In fact, with AWeber, you can send up the three versions of the same email.
Segmentation is vital to send personalise campaigns to users with similar interests or activities.
With AWeber, you can segment data in two ways. First, do it by setting a filter on any fields in the database, and second by grouping subscribers by their online activity. For example, users that click on a button in the newsletter.
If you lack a field that is provided by default, it is possible to create custom fields as well.

AWeber offers more than 100 integrations to choose from and this is where they beat many competitors.
Some of the most popular options are Shopify, WordPress, Salesforce, WooCommerce, ClickFunnels, Freshbooks, Magento, Unbounce, and many more.
API is a very important addition in every email marketing tool and AWeber has one.
API is a set of functions that operate under your account and enable you to do any activity. For example, you can build a web or mobile app that uses AWeber API with a subscription form to get more subscribers.
As API can only be accessed by using the programming language of their party tool you need a web developer to implement it.
AWeber Customer Service
If you have a problem, AWeber offers customer support via a call, 24/7 live chat or email. The phone support is available from 8 am to 8 pm ET Monday to Friday.
They won Stevie Awards for customer services in the past few years and this is a good indicator that if something happens or you have a technical problem, someone will be there to help you.
AWeber Review – Executive Summary
AWeber is a solid marketing tool that has everything you need to start your email marketing.
Maybe it is not as comprehensive as ActiveCampaign in terms of automation, and not as good as GetResponse for additional features, but a tool worth considering especially when you start with getting new subscribers and sending emails.
I think that AMP for dynamic emails and reasonable paid plans makes this email tool a solid candidate to consider.
